10 Years After Jakarta Have Giant Dam

JAKARTA - The Jakarta administration plans to build a giant dam aka Giant Seawall to menambung water sources. The project is scheduled for completion before 2025.

Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo, today held a meeting with the Technical Assistance team from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, led by Wim Stolte.

  
"They are given the task to prepare a detailed master plan for what we know as the Jakarta coastal defense. How do we protect and secure the northern coast of Jakarta," explains Foke, Bowo familiar greeting at City Hall on Wednesday (09/14/2011 ).

According Foke, dam construction was inspired by the gigantic dam in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, which was built not merely to secure the coastal area north of Jakarta, but for the sake of Jakarta in the future.

"For example, later, if we make this project we hope also there is a water source or water resources. So 13 times the water of this river flows into the sea, the ocean does not disappear just like that, but our capacity so that it can be a water resources for the city of Jakarta, "explained Foke.

He emphasized that this project is to secure long-term program needs of the water in Jakarta is by various measures. "The most rapidly from the water pipe probably Jatiluhur," he continued.

Foke hoped, the project is completed within 10 to 20 years into the future. To manufacture the master plan, Foke estimates it will take much less for two years, and to plan the preparation of his master plan will be completed in 9 months.
