Edible oil blackened Potentially Toxic

JAKARTA - How do you fry food? Health nutrition experts from the Indonesian Fortification Coalition, Virginia Kadarsan, said frying with cooking oils used repeatedly harmful to health.According to him, consumers need to know what dangers the same frying oil many times.

While Chairman of the Indonesian Fortification Coalition (KFI), Soekirman, said the cooking oil that has been colored black with repeated use can actually cause toxicity. "Consumers must be smart in choosing cooking oils to be consumed," he said.

Fortification is the addition of one or more micronutrients in food ingredients. Today the government also is working on fortification of vitamin A in cooking oil. Soekirman added, now only voluntary fortification and has not become a liability.
