AJI: Violations Of The Code Of Ethics Of Journalism Rise

VIVAnews -Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) was concerned with the increasing cases of violations of the code of ethics in the era of freedom of the press showed an increase in public report complaints related community journalist professionalism.

According to Nezar, in 2009, complaints about violations of the code numbers reached 424 cases. This condition occurs because of a problem of comprehension related journalistic ethics reporter. Based on the results of the survey, only 20 percent of the journalists who read the Journalistic code of ethics.

He was concerned, if the same survey done today, that number continued to decline. "We criticize the Government, but unfortunately when journalists don't understand the code of conduct," added Nezar.

In terms of freedom of the press, Nezar reveal, Indonesia is still far better than countries in Southeast Asia. "The Philippines be rival Indonesia in this regard, but we are still far better when viewed from a number of murder or violence against journalists," he said.
