KALIANDA- Pos Hargopancuran Monitoring Volcano Village, Rajabasa Subdistrict, South Lampung, record the seismic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) in the waters of the Sunda Strait is still in the range of four to five times per minute.
"GAK volcanic earthquake still like yesterday about 5,000 times per day," said postal officials monitored volcanoes in Rajabasa Andi Suardi, Thursday morning.
He said the activity has been no change since a few days ago and is still at level II or alert while small eruptions do not occur in the mountain. Meanwhile, a safe distance from the mountain is still in the range of radius between two to three kilometers for both fishermen and tourists.
"Fishermen who used to sail around the volcano should keep a safe distance," he said. According to him, currently there is no burst of volcanic material such as the activity of last season but should still beware because of the possibility of such activity could occur at any time.
He explained that the current high-intensity earthquake was not the character of the mountain because it was the first time. Andi admitted, up to date can not be sure the mountain is the next activity of the volcano but the Center for Volcanology Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) Bandung instructed to monitor and report progress of the volcano activity.
He explained to local people who live on the island or coastal district Sebesi Rajabasa still safe to date and still active fishermen go to sea as usual.
